Direct Sales | Scam or Opportunity?

January 29, 2012 | No Comments

Many people think that direct sales are a scam, but it truly is not.  If you find the right opportunity and make sure that you do your research, you will not end up in a scam situation.  One of the most important things you should find out is where your signup fees go to.  If they go to purchase a kit and getting your product, then you are looking at direct sales.  But, if they are going to the person signing you up, or the majority of the fees are going there, then you may be looking at a scam or pyramid scheme which is illegal.

If you do not know where the sign up fees are going, ask the person that you are talking to explain what you get for the signup fee.  They should be willing to give you the information that you require.  If not, then you should be concerned about how legitimate this opportunity truly is.  A person should not have a hard time giving you information when the opportunity is legal and legitimate.  Most direct sales companies take your sign up fee and send you a starter kit and nothing goes to the person you are signing with – they get paid when you make sales.

Work From Home without Being Scammed

The amount of scams that exists online is mind boggling although it probably shouldn’t be much of a surprise. If you’ve ever tried looking for jobs where you can work from home or even legitimate work from home jobs with no startup fee, you’ve probably already came across a lot of programs or opportunities promising some pretty big things. You’ve also likely seen those “single mom makes $76.32 an hour” type of ads plastered all over the place that lead to sites that try to look legit with logos of news stations.

The internet has made it a lot easier for people to make money from home but it has also make it easier for scammers to prey on people as well. When researching into any type of job or opportunity, be naturally skeptical. Just pretend you’re doing research for a friend who would like your honest opinion and whatever advice you’d give to them, they’ll take. This will help you be extra careful before jumping in on the opportunity.

Look for red flags such as a sales page with nothing but images of mansions and cars and statements like how you can get rich with little work in less than 6 months. Even though it’s easier than ever to earn an income from home, it still takes a lot of hard work and time to pull it off so avoid those quick way to riches methods.
